CLASS DESCRIPTION
Nordic Walking (also known as Urban Poling) is a fantastic compliment to yoga. Students enjoy the beauty of nature as they learn the basic steps of Nordic Walking in order to have proper alignment and achieve all the benefits. All classes are small (maximum 12) in order to ensure personal attention. Classes begin with prayer, followed by specific instructions; students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Students loop around so that all students feel comfortable, giving the instructor an opportunity to work closely with all students. At the end of class, students cool down with stretches using their poles. Click here to read about the benefits of nordic walking.
INTRO
This class provides an overview of the benefits of using special poles as well as step-by-step instructions with many opportunities to practise the steps on various terrain. Students are encouraged to walk slowly and then gradually increase their speed as they gain confidence in the application of the basics.
GUIDED HIKES
Classes explore different park locations throughout the Niagara region. We review the basic steps of Nordic Walking. We hike together for about half an hour before stopping for a break and then returning all together. Students are responsible for dressing according to the weather, providing their own water and snack. Guided hikes are done monthly for 6 months. You can register for them individually or as a season’s pass. * The Intro Class or equivalent experience is a pre-requisite to these classes.
