CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Students enjoy a relaxed and encouraging atmosphere. All classes are small (maximum 10) in order to ensure personal attention. Classes begin with prayer, followed by yoga stretches; students are encouraged to move at their own pace. Modifications are provided for students in all classes with professional props and guidance. At the end of each class, a Bible verse and a quotation is read, followed by time for prayer, personal reflection or goal setting. Click here to read about the benefits of yoga.
GENTLE
In the Gentle classes, we focus on balance and slow movements to improve our posture and flexibility. Poses may be modified by using a chair and the wall if necessary. Many of the poses are done while sitting or lying down. These classes are ideal for women with health issues or seniors.
INTRO/BEGINNER
Beginners learn the foundations of proper breathing and alignment. Props such as blocks and straps are introduced. Poses are often modeled first so that all students have a clear understanding of the alignment and the muscles used.
INTERMEDIATE
In the Intermediate classes, poses gradually become more difficult and are held longer. New poses are introduced (especially twists and balance poses). A flow to the sequences is established, providing a greater cardio workout. Props are used to deepen the poses and correct alignment.
INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED
At the Intermediate/Advanced level, we continue to work on challenging poses and add new postures such as bow, headstand and the splits. Students are challenged to hold individual poses longer but also do more in depth sequences faster with precision.
PARTNER
During Partner classes, we explore individual and partner poses. Students are encouraged to assist each other gently when checking alignment and deepening poses. Partners work together as a team, sharing common goals. One partner is required to have previous yoga/stretching experience.
